As a Storekeeper, I worked in Storeroom "W". We left Long Beach,CA, it was my third WESPAC. We made the usual port visits, and a stop at Pusan, S.Korea was added. Upon return, we tied up at NAS North Island, and I got out a month later.
I liked the sea so much, I spent 20 years in the US Merchant Marine, last civilian ship, I sailed as Bosun, we hauled containers from VA-USAF base on Teceria, Azores. I am semi-retird now, still willing to work the random relief slot aboard ship.
