Back To Reading Memories

I remember being in dry dock at Newport News when I came aboard. I remember the trip through the Panama Canal, The first West Pack and the Second West Pac. I remember being a pollywog and then a shellback . I had the opportunity to go to Australia twice, first Sidney then Perth. Hong Kong and the Phillipines, Never thought much of Gulf of Tonken but was there on both West Pacs. I remember the smokers on the fan tail. I also remember the cookouts because I grilled most of the steaks during those times. I remember a big fellow 1st class Bosun mate called Painter, the Ships Master of Arms Saterfield. I remember there was a little fellow on board who served as a mess cook that had a dream of being an actor named Harvey, (I wonder what happend to him) You know, I guess there were and are a lot of good memories from that time. Anyone else out their remember these times. Let us know.
