I remember in 1966, we were operating in the Gulf of Tonkin, running plane guard to the USS Enterprise and we went to GQ. This particular time, we spent over 40 hours at GQ and we had the distinct pleasure of putting one of our Talos Missles to work, bringing down a Russian MIG. I was on the bridge on the helm at the time. Ritchie BM1 was the Boatswain's Mate of the watch. We were all excited about shooting that MIG out of the air. We sure were mighty happy when we secured from GQ. Over40 hours with no sleep.
